Jakes, born Jermaine Jacobs in Bristol, UK, is a distinguished figure in the drum and bass and dubstep scenes. Initially gaining prominence as an MC, he has since evolved into a respected producer and label head.
In the early stages of his career, Jakes collaborated with local producer Markee Substance, contributing vocals to tracks like Streetlife and Dialect. His partnership with Marc Caro, known as Tech Itch, led to the creation of some of the darkest drum and bass anthems, including The Ruckus, Soldiers, and The Calling. These collaborations solidified his reputation in the underground bass music community.
Expanding his influence, Jakes became the frontman for live acts such as T.C., Pendulum, and EZ Rollers.
