Doc Scott

Scott McIlroy, professionally known as Doc Scott, is a pioneering British drum and bass DJ and producer from Coventry, England. Emerging in the late 1980s, he began his career DJing at prominent clubs and raves, including Amnesia House and The Eclipse. His early involvement in the rave scene laid the foundation for a significant influence on the evolution of drum and bass music.

In 1991, Doc Scott released his debut track, NHS, on Absolute 2, marking the beginning of a series of influential productions. Recording under his alias Nasty Habits, he produced seminal tracks such as Here Comes The Drumz and Shadow Boxing, which are considered classics in the genre. His innovative approach to production played a pivotal role in shaping the darker, more intricate sounds of drum and bass.

Beyond his production work, Doc Scott is renowned for his dynamic DJ sets and contributions to the live music scene. He was a regular at the Metalheadz Blue Note sessions in the mid-1990s, events that were instrumental in defining the genre's direction. His performances are celebrated for their seamless mixing and forward-thinking track selections, earning him a reputation as a leading tastemaker in drum and bass.

In addition to his DJing and production, Doc Scott founded 31 Records in 1994, providing a platform for both established and emerging artists within the drum and bass community. His commitment to the genre is further exemplified by his Future Beats radio show, which aired from 2014 to 2018, showcasing cutting-edge tracks and promoting new talent.
