Matrix, born Jamie Quinn, is a British drum and bass producer and DJ, widely regarded as one of the genre's pioneers. Emerging in the mid-1990s, Matrix first gained recognition with his album Sleepwalk, released on Virus Recordings in 2000. Known for his smooth, atmospheric sound and forward-thinking production, he quickly established himself as a key figure in drum and bass.
In the early 2000s, Matrix formed the duo Goldtrix, achieving commercial success with their cover of It's Love (Trippin'), which reached number six on the UK Singles Chart. Later, he partnered with Futurebound to form the renowned duo Matrix & Futurebound. Their debut album, Universal Truth, was released in 2007, followed by chart-topping singles such as All I Know and Control, featuring Max Marshall.
Matrix is also the founder of Metro Recordings, a label that has supported many emerging talents in the drum and bass scene. His influence stretches beyond his productions, as he remains an active figure in both studio work and live performances.
With a career spanning over two decades, Matrix continues to push boundaries within drum and bass, blending innovation with timeless musicality.
