T.Power, born Marc Royal, is a pioneering figure in electronic music, known for his experimental and genre-defying approach to drum and bass. Rising to prominence in the early 1990s, he played a crucial role in shaping the sound of jungle and drum and bass through innovative releases such as Mutant Jazz on SOUR Records. His productions stood out for their intricate programming, jazz-infused influences, and refusal to conform to conventional structures.
In 1995, T.Power released his seminal album The Self Evident Truth of an Intuitive Mind, an atmospheric and introspective exploration of drum and bass, regarded as one of the genre's most forward-thinking works. His later collaborations with vocalist Shy FX, particularly the hit single Shake Ur Body, introduced his music to a broader audience and achieved mainstream success.
Beyond production, T.Power co-founded the influential label Botchit & Scarper, further pushing the boundaries of breakbeat and electronic music. His contributions have left a lasting impact on the evolution of drum and bass, cementing his status as an influential and innovative artist.
